Mechanical Design of the Container Based Gas Clean up System (GCS)

This project will focus on creating a manufacturable detailed design of the container based or trailer based system to convert biogas into bioenergy and biofuels. This field-ready system is aimed for rapid deployment domestically in the USA and globally.

Project Overview

Project Description

This project aims to create a detailed design and model of a trailer-based or container-based gas clean-up system (GCS) to convert biogas into bioenergy and biofuels. This will be an expansion of the M2X’s developed preliminary conversion system plant design for the GCS, which converts harmful greenhouse gases generated from landfills and other bio-derived sources into low-carbon fuels through a mobile chemical process. This project will focus on creating a manufacturable system design that will result in a field-ready system for rapid deployment domestically and globally.

The project will focus on some of the key objectives as illustrated below:

  • Parametric solid modelling and packaging of the skidded trailer and ISO container-based systems
  • Optimize equipment, frame, and piping to balance size, weight, cost, and manufacturability
  • Design for manufacturability (DFM), transportability, ease of maintenance and serviceability, and mass production
  • Design for modularity, subsystem layout, easy assembly/integration
  • Creation of 3D models, piping and ISO drawings, frame and support structure models
  • Create realistic and illustrative renderings for product documents
  • Integration of chemical, mechanical, structural, and electrical sub-systems

Impact

This project will provide valuable engineering, design, and business support to M2X Energy for the ongoing development of mobile gas-to-liquid and gas-to-fuel processes designed to reduce global GHG emissions by converting biogas and other bio-derived gases into liquid methanol or low-carbon fuels. Project output would assist M2X with design, manufacturing, and successful deployment of GHG mitigation technology. This technology would have local and global impacts, mostly in areas that are strongly impacted by climate change, poor air quality, and low economic development.

M2X is seeking to manufacture and deploy these systems in areas to improve good health, provide affordable and clean energy, create industry and innovation, and derive value from waste products. M2X’s mission is to develop and deploy technologies that can provide low-carbon fuels and chemicals, where this project would naturally enhance efforts to reduce carbon emissions and efforts to reach net-zero by 2050.
