Bandha Bikes are Bamboo bikes manufactured for transportation in Uganda.
This product is no longer in production. Interview with designer
Bandha Bikes was a project to increase access to transportation for people in Ugandan villages. By creating and distributing bamboo bikes, they helped residents achieve basic needs and access to resources. Having identified local sources of bamboo to harvest sustainably, Bandha imported hemp wrap and steel parts for the remainder of the bicycle, bringing the estimated build cost to the 250 USD.
Check out their promotional video here.
In addition to selling the bicycle, Bandha also taught their local community of Jinja, Uganda, how to build, maintain and repair their own bicycle.

Target users could make specific mention of people who solely rely on bicycle to increase/make their income (transport/taxi/courier etc)?
