Product Description

The Biro Air Turbine is a compact wind turbine with two sets of contra-rotating blades and a nose cone that are designed to deflect wind toward the blade tips to increase power output for a range of wind speeds. This product is applicable in a variety of locations, including high rise rooftops, communication towers, and on grain elevators. However, it appears that Biro and its products are no longer in service.

Description of control system

Installed with inverter for ensuring voltage and frequency output that matches local requirements and wind interface that is a microprocessor controlled load regulator for modulating electrical demand on the turbine. This ensures maximum power generation and prevents the turbine from stalling out or over-speeding due to improper load control.

Design Specifications

Produces power at relatively low wind speeds, turbine is smaller and lighter than comparable turbines, low noise and vibration, rugged design, automatically slows down during high winds, microprocessor control for optimum power output.

  • Blade diameter: ~3.96m
  • Length (nosecone to blades): ~2.13m
  • Weight: ~192.8kg
