Resource Map is an open-source, resource management web application. It allows the possibility of allocating resources into a geographical location and track the changes of that resource. It is possible to monitor the state of all the uploaded resources, visually, on the map. The platform also features team collaboration, allowing each team member to make changes in the resources. The users can ask for updates on the state of the resources through SMS. In order to use the web application, the user needs to create a free account.

Design Specifications

Resource Map is a free, open-source tool for resource management. It uses Ruby on Rails application that utilizes Elasticsearch, Redis, and MySQL for the back-end. After logging in with a free account, the user can upload data in a specific geographical location and collaborate with team members recording, tracking, and analyzing resources using a live map. The web application allows field teams to:

  • Get updates using a live map or text message request
  • Visualize and update resources
  • Update resource data on a computer, smartphone or from with a text messaging-capable phone
  • Query resource status on a computer or smartphone, or with any phone that can send and receive text messages
  • Perform data analytics, identify patterns and anomalies with visual mapping and trend analysis
