Distributions to Date Status

There is no information about this specific product, however, Renewit has shipped and manufactured over 1 million solar lanterns to date to various markets in the Middle East and Africa. Furthermore, Renewit has conducted various solar street lighting projects in Asia fitting out new highways and road systems in Malaysia and China.

Design Specifications

Design specifications include the solar panel, battery, three LED solar lamps, the flashlight and FM radio. The solar module is a polycrystalline silicon panel with 10 Wp of maximum power point. The battery is Lithium-Ion type with 3,7 V of nominal voltage and 8600 mAh capacity. The flashlight has a Lithium-Iron-Phosphate battery with 3,7 V nominal voltage and 550 mAh capacity. The system's main battery has 3 DC Jacks charge outputs and a USB port. It features a red LED light for monitoring system's charging and 4 green LED lights as battery indicators. Renewit lamps are LED type with high and low brightness settings: 320 lumens in total for the 3 LED lights in high brightness and flashlight with high and low light outputs: 24 lumens/8 lumens.

The product has a 1-year warranty covering manufacturing defects, however, according to Lightning Global the battery is easily replaceable with common tools.

Vetted Performance Status

A Solar Home System composed of a 10 Wp maximum power polycrystalline silicon panel and 3,7 V and 8600 mAh capacity lithium-ion battery connected to 3 LED-light points and the flashlight has the following running hours after a typical day of solar charging (5 kWh/m²/day): when used with main lamps and flashlight on high-brightness setting, the 3 LED lights of 320 lumens in total are powered for 7,7 hours and the flashlight of 24 lumens for 7,2 hours, resulting in a total lightning service of 2600 lumen-hours/solar-day. In reference to lumen maintenance, 100% of the original output remains after 2,000 hours of run time. Safety

The Solar Home power is a plug and play device, however, electrical installation and control guidelines provided by Renewit must be followed to avoid electrical shocks.

Compliance with regulations

This product meets the Lightning Global Quality Standards for Solar Home System Kits. Valid until the 30th of April in 2019. Renewit products are also certificated with Light for Africa.

Evaluation methods

Lightning Global verified the Solar Home System Kit Quality Standards in the Shenzhen Academy of Metrology and Quality Inspection in China in the following aspects: lumen maintenance, overall durability and workmanship, battery replaceability and appropriate protection circuit.
