Tomoko Miyamoto is a Head of the Patent Law Section, Patent Law Division, in the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO). She joined WIPO in 1997, and has worked on various issues regarding intellectual property. In particular, she has wide-ranged experience with respect to patent policy, law and practices, including normative development of the international patent system, promotion of patent-related treaties, legislative and legal advice to Member States and provision of trainings in the area of patents. She also belongs to a team of the Secretariat serving for the WIPO Standing Committee on the Law of Patents (SCP). Areas of her responsibility also cover trade secret protection. Prior to joining WIPO, Ms. Miyamoto worked for the Japan Patent Office. She holds a Master degree in Electronics Engineering and an LL.M on IP Law and Management.
