About Shannon Tin Oi Lee
Shannon is an overly ambitious musician and biomedical mechanical engineer (licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng) of Ontario). She holds a Master of Engineering in Mechanical and Industrial Engineering from the University of Toronto (Canada) granted with the highest honours. Her undergraduate degree was pursued at the University of Ottawa (Canada's capital), winner of 17 national awards and 2 international awards for engineering design and inventions. From these initiatives, Shannon was titled by the Queen's representative as the "Most Innovative Person" of the province. Shannon continued her fiery passion for engineering during her graduate years of study, where she briefly pursued a graduate research thesis under Canada's Turbulence Research Lab and specialized in combustion engineering at the University of Toronto Institute for Aerospace Studies. If not studying, Shannon worked with the university's racing team as the Structural Lead and the driver in the races! Shannon's work experience was primarily in the automated industrial manufacturing industry, as the lead mechanical engineer in designing Canada's largest additive manufacturing machine. Her focus has then shifted towards global engineering, where she worked on mechanical designs to solve some of the world's most serious global challenges (aka the Sustainable Development Goals defined by the UN). Shannon now works with developing engineering startups within the University of Toronto's Faculty of Engineering network and continues to help develop startups targeting sustainable development.
