Simeon Banani is a Rwandan architect with four years of experience in research, planning, implementing and managing social and community impact architectural and construction projects. These include design and planning of affordable housing and edible landscape projects as both architect and a site practitioner, specializing in sustainable, health and peaceful community development through architecture. He has developed an interest in the community wellbeing, self-reliance and peacebuilding through architecture after studying architecture in the university of Rwanda, working on various affordable housing projects in both rural and urban areas and understanding that creativity and innovations in where people live, work and play can greatly make a difference in rural and urban populations, which in turn promotes peace in communities. Right after graduation, he worked on design and construction of affordable housing project in in the Est of Rwanda, where he worked in partnership with partners in health, Jenga design build, Rwanda village architecture and University of Rwanda under supervision of American NGOs. He then taught building information management and community housing modules in university of Rwanda on voluntary basis, he served as a supervisor in UR- Skat- Kigali City urban residents housing survey and slum upgrading, he supervised in national program of school construction to fight Covid-19 in schools and he is currently Smart Homes Design LTD as an architect and BIM manager. Besides holding a Bachelor with honours in architecture from the university of Rwanda college of science and technology, he also has an excellent knowledge in Maths, Physics and Chemistry with a great distinction advanced level certificated from G.S.Saint.Joseph Kagbayi. He also has a number of certificates of various trainings about affordable housing, sustainable cities, building information management, leadership and international architectural projects competitions. In his professional and personal undertakings, he has come to learn the planning and master planning politics and how they are related to the paradigm that the country of Rwanda is taking towards peace building in the whole Rwandan communities
