The Equity in the Arts Toolkit is a product of the collaboration that took place between the CAL-Now convening attendees and the local participating Eastern Coachella Valley artists.
This toolkit intends to support positive impact of public artworks through a social equity lens. Produced by Kounkuey Design Initiative for the 2019 CAL-Now Convening, it is designed to be used in two phases of a grant, program (vision and research) and artwork (design and impact). The guide was made to be used with flexibility and critical thinking through each step of the process. It must be considered that all communities are not created the same. Adjustments and contextualizing will be required.
Target users are programs or art workers that want to ensure the just representation of the communities they work in.
