This manual was written to assist the affected populations of the April 2015 Nepal Earthquake to demolish compromised structures.
To assist with the safe demolition of structurally unsound buildings, AHV has teamed up with Engineers Without Borders (EWB) to develop this Program Manual to be used as a reference guide. The intent of this manual is not to be the sole resource for demolition activities.
The manual seeks to provide information to the people of Nepal in the most effective manner for them to be able to start the recovery process from 2015 earthquake and have access to shelter. It aims to provide safe environment to work, which actively strides towards minimizing risk at the work site. It helps in the creation of an effective demolition program that can be deployed to assist communities in the wake of a disaster.
